Cambria has officially published the whitepaper for its upcoming Dungeons mode, which introduces players to a Diablo-inspired, onchain dungeon crawler. According to reports from PlayToEarn News, the early access phase is scheduled to begin on May 14 and will initially be available by invitation only.
Dungeons mode is structured around real USDC stakes, with a conversion where 10 Dungeon Keys equate to $1 USDC. Players select between different combat classes and stake Keys before progressing through up to eight procedurally generated dungeon floors. The gameplay emphasizes risk and reward, as staking more Keys can increase potential payouts but also exposes players to greater losses.
Throughout a run, players must contend with monsters, collect Artifacts, defeat bosses, and gather various power-ups that affect their build and chances of success. Each dungeon floor increases in difficulty, challenging players to balance the prospect of higher rewards against the risk of defeat. Rewards at the end of a run are determined by the number of Dungeon Coins, the Reward Multiplier (which can be raised during play through mechanics like finding Corrupted Tomes), and the Keys staked.
The design blends classic roguelike elements—such as random gear, floor layouts, and build-affecting modifiers—with the additional pressure of onchain economic stakes. Cambria positions this new mode as an accessible entry point into the wider Genesis ecosystem, targeting a broad audience familiar with both traditional gaming and onchain mechanics.
Weekly USDC payouts will be distributed based on performance, with rare in-game items like Ruined Diamonds offering the possibility of larger jackpots. The early access window marks the first opportunity for players to experience the new mode on Cambria’s mainnet, ahead of broader public access. The studio highlights that while the mechanics are designed to be approachable, depth and mastery will reward more experienced or strategic players.
