Maya Protocol Halts Operations Following Significant Exploit

Maya Protocol, a decentralized liquidity protocol, has temporarily halted operations after experiencing a security breach that reportedly drained around $1.7 million in assets. According to statements from the platform's pseudonymous co-founder, Aaluxx, the attacker used a sequence of six vulnerabilities to carry out the exploit.

As a result of the attack, Maya Protocol's native token CACAO experienced a sharp decline, falling by approximately 88%. The stolen funds were reportedly converted into Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and other assets through Maya's liquidity pools.

This latest incident marks Maya Protocol as one of the sixteen crypto projects targeted by hacks in August, according to source-aggregated reports. The incident adds to ongoing concerns regarding the security of decentralized finance platforms, highlighting the continued risk of smart contract bugs and protocol vulnerabilities.
